Join Heather for this Canadian Yoga Alliance 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training program!

This program is for anyone who wants to expand on their knowledge of the healing art of Yoga. 

Whether you plan to teach Yoga or simply have a desire to deepen your practice  - please read on!

The full program is run as a series of modules, with option to join in at the beginning of every module.

Option for those simply wishing to deepen their understanding of Yoga (and not necessarily teach) to participate in any module of interest to you.  ​Please note: For CYA-RYT200 certification, full program is 200 hrs.​

Module 1.1 Understanding Asana (40 hrs)

This module includes:

  • in-depth study of 20 main yoga postures

  • theoretical, anatomical and energetic composition

  • principles of alignment

  • sanskrit terminology for each posture

  • origin, purpose and benefits of the posture

  • modifications and alternative postures

  • contradictions

Module 1.2 Therapeutic Yoga (16.5 hrs )

This module includes:​

  • specific yoga poses that aid in healing certain situations such as arthritis, scoliosis, injuries, back, hip, shoulder, neck, headaches, etc.

  • pose modifications, alternative postures, and hands on adjustments

  • yoga props and other healing tools

  • pregnancy/post natal yoga

  • chair yoga

  • yoga for mental health

  • trauma-informed yoga

Module 1.3 Pranayama (13.5 hrs)

This module includes:​​

  • traditional pranayama practices that bring balance and harmony to our mind-body-spirit

  • accessible and simple breathing practices to enhance your daily life and your personal yoga practice

  • theory and practice of different breathing techniques to calm and steady the mind, regulate the nervous system, or energize and awaken

  • the powerful effect breathing has on all levels of the body, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually

  • coordinating the breath with posture and movement

  • understanding of prana and the physiology of subtle energies

  • anatomical systems involved in and affected by the breath

Module1.4 Meditation and Mindfulness (16.5 hrs)

​This module includes:

  • Learn how to incorporate meditation and mindfulness into your everyday life to improve your health and happiness. 

  • Explore a variety of Meditation and Mindfulness practices to build a strong personal practice

  • Develop tools to calm the mind, to heighten self-awareness and delve deeper within to gain clarity and insight about the Self

  • Learn about the history and foundations of Meditation

  • Feel confident in maintaining your own practices and guiding others

  • Discover why this is the most transformative practice to manage stress and improve your overall well-being

Module 1.5 Exploring the Light Body - Our Energetic Anatomy (13.5 hrs)

In this module we will:

  • Strengthen your journey of spiritual evolution through working with the Light body

  • Integrate knowledge of the Light body into your Yoga practice

  • Practice Yoga Techniques that promote harmony and balance to our Energy Body (Bandhas, Mudras, Sound Healing, Mantra, Asana, Pranayama, Meditation)

  • Explore the Energetic Anatomy: the structure and function of the Five Pranas, Vayus (energic flows), Koshas (layers of being), Nadis (energic pathways)

  • Deepen knowledge of the seven main Chakras (energy centers)

  • Discover the path to Kundalini awakening and the profound transformations it can bring

  • Learn how to detect and clear Energy blockages

Module 2 The Art and Science of Teaching Yoga (30 hrs)

In this module we will:

  • Unlock your potential as a yoga teacher

  • Gain the skills and confidence to teach yoga effectively

  • Learn sequencing, cueing, and hands-on adjustments

  • Design safe, intentional, and creative yoga class sequences

  • Build confidence in instructing through practical teaching experience, receiving supportive guidance and personalized feedback

  • Feel empowered to lead thoughtful, engaging, and inclusive classes for a variety of individuals with varied needs

Module 3 Anatomy & Physiology (30 hrs) ONLINE

The majority of this module (20 hrs) will be offered online at www.healthyhips.ca/about-anatomy-course . 

Please note: 10 hours will be in-person with Heather this Fall 2025 (after online course completion). 

Online component can be started anytime.

Comprehensive and fun, this anatomy program has been skillfully designed to make anatomy easy to understand and applicable to your practice and teaching. You will gain an in-depth understanding of anatomy and develop skill and confidence in your ability to teach safely. Students will be required to complete this online portion of the program on their own time before the in-person portion. 

Online details (20 hr)

  • Pricing: $195 + tax, with lifetime access to the course content.

  • Structure: The course includes 5 units, with a quiz at the end of each unit. 

  • Time Commitment: The course contains approximately 14 hours of video content and around 6 hours of self-study (re-watching videos, reviewing notes, and reading the PDF manual), totaling 20 hours of content.

In-person details (10 hr)

  • Pricing: $130 + tax.

  • Review and experiential application of the online component.

Online Meditation

Module 4 History & Philosophy of Yoga (30 hours) ONLINE

This 30-hour online module (20 contact / 10 non-contact) offers a deep immersion into the historical and philosophical foundations of yoga, giving you the essential worldview of the tradition.

You will gain a thorough understanding of yoga's evolution through the study of its key texts and diverse paths:

  • Historical Roots and Evolution (6 Hours): Trace the origins of Yoga, explore the "Yoga Tree" of lineages and founders, and see how the practice was introduced to the West. We'll examine the full spectrum of traditional paths, including Raja, Jnana, Bhakti, Karma, Tantra and Hatha Yoga.

  • Classical Works Study (14 Hours): Dive into foundational scriptures, with study of the Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Bhagavad Gita (4 hrs). The core focus (10 hrs) is on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, mastering the Eight-limbed Path (Ashtanga) as the practical "Map of Yoga."

 

This is more than a history lesson; it's a foundation for understanding the why behind all yoga practice.

This module will empower you to:

- Gain a profound understanding of Yoga, moving beyond the physical poses.

- Deepen your personal spiritual practice for significant inner growth and realization.

- Elevate your teaching by acquiring the essential context and wisdom to instruct with depth and confidence.

Non-Contact Time (10 Hours): These hours can be fulfilled through weekly assignments, attending a temple, specialized lectures on Indian philosophy, or participation in events of a yogic philosophical nature.

Module 5 Living Yoga (8 hours) ONLINE

3 Hours Contact | 5 Hours Non-Contact

 

This module explores the art of embodiment—the bridge where Yoga leaves the mat and enters our daily lives. We will weave together the wisdom of Ayurveda with the core principles of Ahimsa, Karma, and Dharma to create a personal blueprint for wellness. From mindful eating to navigating our digital world, you will learn to listen to your body’s signals and make choices that truly nourish.

 

Non-Contact Time (5 hours) These hours invite you to put your practice into motion through a self-led Karma Yoga project. By offering your time or skills to a community cause and completing a written reflection, you will explore how selfless action becomes a path to spiritual growth.

Module 6 The Business of Yoga (3 hours) ONLINE

3 Hours Contact 

 

This module provides the essential knowledge required to launch and manage a professional teaching career. Students will develop a solid foundation for navigating the industry, from establishing a brand identity to day-to-day operational management.

Core Topics Include:

  • Business Operations: Guidance on starting a yoga business, organizing classes, and basic business management.

  • Marketing: Practical strategies for building a website, managing social media, and designing effective advertisements.

  • Legal Considerations: Essential documentation, including rental contracts and health waivers.

 

By the end of this session, you will be equipped with a personalized action plan and the professional tools needed to transition from trainee to yoga entrepreneur.
