Yoga Immersive Studies - Yoga Teacher Training Program (RYS-200) All modules completed are eligible for credits with the Canadian Yoga Alliance. Module 4 The History & Philosophy of Yoga (30 hr) This module provides a deep-dive into the historical and philosophical core of yoga, giving you the essential "why" behind the practice. This majority of this module will be offered through the YTT online learning platform which provides the reading materials, quizzes and assignments. We will review each week's online learning with live Zoom sessions (dates TBA) You will gain a thorough understanding of yoga's evolution through the study of its key texts and diverse paths: - Historical Roots and Evolution (6 Hours): Trace the origins of Yoga, explore the "Yoga Tree" of lineages and founders, and see how the practice was introduced to the West. We'll examine the full spectrum of traditional paths, including Raja, Mantra, Jnana, Bhakti, Karma, Laya, and Hatha Yoga. - Classical Works Study (14 Hours): Dive into foundational scriptures, with dedicated study of the Vedas & Upanishads, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Bhagavad Gita (4 hrs). The core focus (10 hrs) is on Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, mastering the Eight-limbed Path (Ashtanga) as the practical "Map of Yoga." This module will empower you to: - Gain a profound understanding of Yoga, moving beyond the physical poses. - Deepen your personal spiritual practice for significant inner growth and realization. - Elevate your teaching by acquiring the essential context and wisdom to instruct with depth and confidence. Non-Contact Time (10 Hours): These hours can be fulfilled through assignments, attending a temple, specialized lectures on Indian philosophy, or participation in events of a yogic philosophical nature.
